Sandain crafts beautiful, durable and sustainable leather goods. Our bags are inspired by our long history and our Northern origins. We create with care for both people and the environment. Always have, always will.

1899
Böle Tannery
In 1899, just south of the Arctic Circle, our history began with Böle Tannery. At the time, it was one of many spruce bark tanneries in Sweden.

Early 1900s
Craft in the North
Leather was made with only spruce bark and river water. Simplicity and durability became the foundation that we still build upon.

Mid 1900s
Generations continue
The craft was carried through generations. Skills and values were passed on, keeping Nordic simplicity alive.

1977
A family bond is born
A journey to Bangladesh created a friendship between families that is still going strong. A bond was built on shared values of craft and care.

1996
Purveyor to the Royal Court
Our long-standing commitment to quality was recognised when we became Purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden.

2000s
The journey continues
Based on the decades-long family friendship in Bangladesh, we established our own manufacturing studio. The aim was to demonstrate the possibility of fair trading in a challenging environment.

2016
A new brand
The new brand Sandlund Hossain was launched, as our studio has become a little factory. The objective was to offer our bags and accessories as sustainable, everyday luxury.

2018
The Cow Funder Initiative
We are launching a unique circular program, the Cow Funder Initiative, where every bag sold helps support women in rural Bangladesh.

2025
Ett nytt kapitel
Vi bytte namn från Sandlund/Hossain till Sandain, som förenar våra tidigare namn till ett – ett namn som är både lätt att minnas och fyllt av vår historia.

2025
Flagship store in Stockholm
We have tens of thousands of happy customers throughout Sweden. To serve our existing customers and reach new ones, we established our first flagship store in Stockholm.

Here to stay
Rooted in the North, Sandain will continue to design and make leather goods with care for people, nature and materials. And the journey will continue to new places.
